Idk why , but I've been playing around with Post stitches. I think they are the greatest things for 2 reasons.
1. they a very easy to learn and master
2. even though they're easy they make a piece look complicated and like you spent way more time then you actually did.
This beanie took me literally no more then 3 hours to make, and that's with my kids driving me insane! It fits an average teen/ adult.

-Worsted/ medium weight yarn in 2 colors (i use red heart)
-Tapestry needle
-Scissors
-8/H-5.00mm
-Gauge 8 rows of 14 dc = 4in x 4in

Rnd2: ch 2, 2dc in each around. Join 1st dc .20.
Rnd3: ch 2 *2dc, dc* around. Join 1st dc .30.
Rnd4: ch 2 *2dc, dc nxt 2* rep around. Join 1st dc .40.

Rnd5: ch 2 *2bpdc, dc nxt 7* rep around. Join w/bpslst ( sl st through like a bpdc) 1st bpdc .45.
Rnd6: ch 2 *2dc, dc nxt 8* rep around. Join 1st dc .50.
Rnd7: ch 2 *2dc, dc nxt 9* rep around. Join 1st dc .55.
Rnd8: ch 2 *2dc, dc nxt 10* rep around. Join 1st dc .60.

If you want ti to be less stretchy you can add a rnd of sl st at end.
